Please click on the links below to open our Zoning Code for the City of Carlyle and/or the available permit applications. Zoning code specifies the areas in which residential, industrial, recreational or commercial activities may take place and restricts the uses that can be made of land and buildings. Zoning laws also regulate the dimensional requirements for lots and for buildings on property located within the City of Carlyle, and the density of development. Many citizens are mostly concerned with the requirements for fencing, storage buildings, and signs. Please be aware that you must first obtain a building permit (including a permit for demolition if appropriate) before any work can begin. There are strict requirements as to signage, so don’t forget to check the code requirements prior to applying for a sign permit.
If you have any questions please call City Hall at 618.594.2468 and ask for the Zoning Administrator. We also have a Zoning Board that provides recommendations to the City Council to enable improvement throughout our town. The major objective of each board is to reflect the public interest. Zoning Board meeting agendas & minutes are available.
