The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host Bring Back the Monarchs on Saturday, September 30, 2017 to commemorate National Public Lands Day.
The event will take place at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center at 12:00 p.m.

Over the past several years, the monarch butterfly population is the lowest it has been since 1993 and needs your help to recover.   Participants at the event will help the recovery by assisting in milkweed seed collection, so they can be planted in areas around Carlyle Lake to help with the monarch’s survival. Milkweed provides monarchs with food, cover and host plants to lay their eggs.

Other activities include: monarch crafts, games, photo opportunities, and a monarch program presented by the Butterfly House at 1:30 p.m.  Volunteers who assist with seed collection will be given a packet of milkweed seeds to take home to plant.
